These beds have a wonderfully graceful shape and great carvings on all the legs! One set would be great for a guest bedroom or you can put both sets together for a King-sized bed and use the rails as decoration over a door or as a valance on a window. These beds will fit in with any decor in your room or a guest bedroom. The beds have solid bass fittings for the original rubber castors. The beds date from the 1890's - 1900's. Made of solid French Oak, the beds are in excellent condition. A beautifully hand carved set that will last you for another 100 years. The beds are in very good condition with one bit of veneer missing on the bottom of one of the footboards as shown in the pictures. The wooden rails have the same shape and design as the bottom of the footboards and are included. The rails do have some veneer missing. Sold as is.
Just a note: When the bed is put together with the wooden rails the length is the length of a regular size twin or full which is 75”. French beds are generally wider than normal as the French loved to tuck in their bedding to show off the rails, so although a standard twin is 39”, these beds are 45” wide. If you use the newer mattresses that are longer than 75” you cannot use the rails. When putting both sets together for a King sized bed, you will not be able to use the rails as CA King beds are 80” - 84” long. We have conversion kits at the warehouse to convert French beds to a King or Queen. Email for more information.
The headbord is 51"H x 45"W x 3"D. The footbord is 40"H x 44 1/2"W x 3"D
The rails are 76" long x 7" H. The weight is approx. 84 lbs for 1 set including the rails.
A great piece of Antique furniture that will be an asset to your home!
